Dr. Mike Evans asks, "what is the single best thing you can do for your
health?" Obviously, there are tons of factors that contribute to
overall health and fitness, but what one thing offers the greatest
return on your investment? Here's a clever video where he outlines his
research-based solution...

Interesting hey! So, in terms of habits for good health, there are lots
of options. The main thing is that little and often is they key. I've
always believed that a small amount of relatively gentle exercise every
days is better for my health than sporadic intensity.

This can be anything: walking, running, hiking, weight lifting,
bodyweight exercise, swinging clubbells or kettlebells, recreational
sports, and even sex! Check out other exercise related posts on this
site.

How do you get your 30 minutes of exercise each day? Comment below,
then check-out my audiobook for my complete healthy living philosophy.

How to stay slim during Christmas

christmas dinner photo

Christmas is upon us, and with that comes a lot of sitting around and
eating tonnes of food. The great news is that you can make it through
without putting on weight, I do every year. Here's how...

Food choices

My usual advice stands, avoid fast burning carbs. This will keep your
insulin levels down, making it very hard for your body to store fat
whatever else you eat. That mean potatoes, sugar, any drinks except
water and herbal tea... I know I know that sounds boring right. That's
what the blowout day is for, one day (I'm choosing Christmas day this
year) you can eat whatever you like.

Simple exercises

Just before you do sit down to that large blowout meal, make sure you
do some brief intense exercise. Who cares what you look like, go in the
loo if necessary. Personally I do 60 simple squats (like getting on and
off the loo 60 times), and 60 pressups against the wall. This will open
the GLUT4 receptors on your muscles cells, meaning more of those extra
calories will go into muscle rather than fat.

That's all I'll say for today, Christmas is supposed to be fun so enjoy
it. Just remember that if you can keep your insulin down by going for
low-GI foods you'll not only put on much less fat, but may feel
less drowsy too.

Thanks so much for all your interest this year. Have an amazing few
days :-)

I recently found this article on eZine, some of it's content is great,
and some I don't agree with. I've commented in blue below...

===================================

The best way to drop fat is really a mixture of workout at the same
time as diet. Exercising will burn calories, and weight loss plan will
reduced them. This kind of combination will assistance you not only
accomplish your goals but to control and sustain your excess fat. Among
the list of most challenging things about trying to eliminate weight is
definitely keeping off that fat, but should you physical exercise at
the same time as control your healthy eating plan you might be
successful.

There are many diets on the market and some of one of the most
well-liked ones are Continue reading ->

Maximum Heart Rate and Exercise

m%2F2011%2F12%2F08%2Fmaximum-heart-rate-and-exercise%2F&style=compact

Once you've used a pulse monitor for a while, it's worth getting in
tune with how different heart rates feel. I found that when I started
running, I was going fat too fast rather than too slow.

Personally I opt for only about 75% of my maximum for general fitness
and wellbeing. You won't win any races at that speed, on the other hand
you won't overly stress your body either.

So, taking general advice, that's 0.75 * (220 - age). So for me that's
a maximum of 220 - 25 = 185 * 0.75 = 139 beats per minute.

Try that sort of pace for size, it's really comfortable and is gentle
enough to be sustainable over the long run without putting you off
exercise.

Recipes for pearl barley & nutrition facts

Pearl barley (or "pearled barley") is barley processed to remove its
hull and bran. Barley must have its fibrous outer hull removed before
it can be eaten; pearl barley is taken a step further, polished to
remove the nutritious bran layer. Pearl barley is the most common form
of barley for human consumption, probably because it cooks faster and
is less chewy than other, less-processed forms of barley.

Another great thing about pearl barley is it has a nice low GI, and
hence will not make you fat. I share a great recipe for pearl barley,
and the nutritional facts below.

Kettlebells training - how to swing the kettlebell

This excellent instructional video explains how to swing a Kettlebell.
This is an excellent exercise for core strength, and for short and
intense cardiovascular workout.

It's important when doing kettlebell training to pay particular
attention to your technique, as how you swing the kettlebell is vital
for your safety.

Enjoy the kettlebells training video...

Personally as a strong 70kg male, I use a 24 kg kettlebell. For women I
recommend 18-20 kg, and men 20-24 kg. I usually do about 40 swings,
then rest for 1 minute, then another 35 kettlebell swings. By the end I
need to lie down for a bit!!

If you've never heard of kettlebells, you aren't alone. Although this
piece of strength training equipment has been around for decades, only
recently has it caught the attention of mainstream athletes.
Kettlebells are bowling ball-sized cast iron weights with a single
looped handle on top. Kettlebells range in weight from two pounds to
over 100 pounds (1 to 45 kg and beyond)

All about insulin...

m%2F2011%2F12%2F05%2Fall-about-insulin%2F&style=compact

The article below in dark green gives some great information about
insulin, for the more curious of you out there. Our choice is to eat
and live 6 of 7 days a week in such a way as to keep our insulin levels
low.

Insulin is a natural hormone controlling the level of sugar glucose in
the blood. Insulin helps cell use glucose for energy. Cells cannot
utilize glucose without insulin. When excess glucose produces in the
bloodstream, it increases the risk of diabetes. The primary source of
the fuel is insulin. Insulin let body cells take glucose from the
bloodstreams. The cells may use glucose for energy production if it is
required. Alternatively, the glucose is sent to the liver for
preservation in the form of glycogen. Continue reading ->

The zorgium specific results appear in the right hand margin.

Find other ZORGIUM pages using your favorite search engine:

Enter your search keyword(s) and the keyword "zorgium" into the search input field of http://bing.com, http://yahoo.com or http://google.com.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
